Lakshmi showcases a collection of eco-printed, handwoven saris by Vriksh, in Odisha. Eco-printing is an unique, natural-dye art form from Australia, where a variety of leaves, flowers, and twigs are used for contact printing on fabrics, drawing pigments from the same plants to create interesting, and often surprising natural prints. This exquisite, sandstone beige, Tussar sari is printed with a pattern of layered leaf prints, in mustard, ochre, fawn, rust, warm tan, and stoneware beige, set against a watercolour-like background. The graceful sand and rust palette of the sari, is enhanced by well-defined, gold-printed, leaves in the foreground and the shot-hue bronze, satin selvedge. This sari is accompanied by a rustically-dyed, sandstone-hued blouse in tussar silk.
