Lakshmi showcases a collection of eco-printed, handwoven saris by Vriksh, in Odisha. Eco-printing is an unique, natural-dye art form from Australia, where a variety of leaves, flowers, and twigs are used for contact printing on fabrics, drawing pigments from the same plants to create interesting, and often surprising natural prints. This elegant, squirrel grey, Tussar sari is printed with a pattern of layered leaf prints, in charcoal grey, rust, garnet, slate,and stoneware beige, set against a watercolour-like background. The graceful red sand and smoke palette of the sari, is complimented by the shot-hue bronze selvedge. This sari is accompanied by a brick red blouse in tussar silk.
